Truth is not something. we can overlook and ignore. The key difference between germ theory and terrain theory is this:

Germ theory states that germs are the primary causative agents of most diseases.

Terrain theory states that our internal environment the primary agent responsible for the diseases and microbes are only given the “advantage” to grow and proliferate within a certain environment.

One of the most interesting twists in this story, is that Pasteur recanted on his deathbed over his entire life work, stating that “the microbe is nothing; the milieu is everything.” Another way of stating these words is that it is not the germ that causes disease, but the terrain in which the germ is found.

Hippocrates was the one who said “all disease begins in the gut”. So why are we not talking more about the Terrain Theory? Why are we not spending more $$$ to support lifestyle factors to build a strong terrain?

Poisoning the cell culture with antibiotic/antifungal drugs first. Terrain theory over demonology any day.

I spent ages trying to find the source that Pasteur said this, and as far as I can tell it was an urban myth that perpetuated without any originating proof.

Thanks. I am unsurprised. I will do some research to find out when the story hit that he recanted. https://skeptics.stackexchange.com/questions/53293/did-louis-pasteur-admit-on-his-deathbed-bernard-the-inventor-of-terrain-theory

I have read thousands of scholarly articles and have yet to find any mention of any of this--not that it matters. We have seen human to animal model transmission of covid.

My past included a stint with the UC Student Lobby. Remarkable that as late as 1987 students working in UC labs had no lockers for dirty toxic lab coats or MSDS information in labs for cleaning spills. UC fought tooth and nail to not do so. Despite thousands of science articles on human health. Money not health runs the show. Ivan Ilich wrote on doctor caused illness the 1970's. Medical Nemesis.
