The reality of the Van Allen radiation belt surrounding the earth along with interstellar radiation (which the earth's atmosphere is designed to protect life on earth from) precludes human deep space flight. So yes, AI controlled systems would allow further exploration without need for human cargo to be present. Yet the cost for space flights vs the ROI is disproportionate only possible thru theft of deficit spending "government " money.
i wonder what the apollo "astronauts" told their families when they would return from the fake "moon" stage-set. It must have been very strange living the rest of their lives with all the public accolade.
