As long as doctors continue to work within the "treat the symptoms with drugs" paradigm, the patients can never be brought back to health. All medical schools receive funding from pharma and therefore only teach drugs as the treatment. Insurance companies like this as it allows short doctor visits with easy to reimburse treatments(fits into their coding system) vs multiple return visits as doctor and patients work on a more detailed treatment involving lifestyle changes.
I’m an OB/ Gyn in Mississippi and also practice a holistic approach with using natural remedies , and why o love this doc so much and many others like him on here , but I will tell you , it’s the patients . It’s the apathy . I can talk all day long , send links , articles , show graphs and at the end of the day , the patient is the one who wants a pill or a shot . They don’t want to be uncomfortable … at all . I can’t tell you how many times I tell parents over and over about how ozempic ( et al ) is a poor weight plan if they don’t build muscle and increase protein and decrease processed foods . They don’t care to exercise. They want a shot . A shirt time . So , if you paid me by results and not by effort ( I also don’t hardly prescribe antidepressants and try therapy , exercise , B vitamins , vit D , etc ) and hardly write the newest of anything , I would go broke with this population. When you are loading up the 17th med on a 35 year old on the Epic system , and you look at them and say … “ I could help you get off a lot of these if we could do these things “ ….and they just want you to refill ……I have to say , it’s a soul crusher these days .
