To my mind, the most powerful counterweight to the media monopoly is right here: the Internet, and venues like Substack. Podcasting is also eroding that monopoly. I couldn't believe it when I read Joe Rogan's Trump interview got something like 34 million downloads! Big media is in its death throes, which it thoroughly deserves. (I've mentioned elsewhere that it's game over if the 2 formerly most prestigious papers are now commonly referred to as the NY Slimes and the Washington Compost.) Protecting free speech is the First Amendment for a very good reason, and we need the Second Amendment to protect it!
