I had a bottle in my collection that I'd forgotten about so since your posts I've returned to give it another go. I have long-term ME/CFS and issues with oxidative stress no western doc has been able to fix. I use an app called Visible that measures heart rate variability first thing in the morning to give an indication of how many "spoons" you may have that day.

Since using DMSO I have on five different mornings reached the coveted level 5 of stability. Something I have not managed to do once in the prior 8 months or so of using the app. Surely not coincidence. I'm also doing othernthings like Feldenkrais and block therapy but I really think there is something to the DMSO.

I fell over the other day while walking down a grassy hill. I applied DMSO to the scrapes several times and the pain was minimal and the scabs are healing well. It's good stuff!

My guess is that's due to DMSO increasing vagal tone.

But it could also be better blood flow.

Dear Midwestern Doc: How can I use DMSO to increase vagal tone? Orally or topically? Thanks so much!

Suzie, how much DMSO are you taking and orally or topically?

Thank you MWD for helping me help my daughter!

My college age daughter also uses the Visible app, but she’s been diagnosed with POTS after a tilt table test. We’re going to get a reverse osmosis system, but decided to test out distilled water first, she got her first 5 and felt amazing after drinking it for 1.5 days. Now she has consistently better scores (4-5) due to the continued distilled water. (She also has an allergy and I have to make nearly all her food from scratch)

How lovely for your daughter that you are making her the food she can tolerate 😍 Interesting about the water. I don't know how much DMSO I'm using, I'm just applying it topically and enough to cover a particular area (diluted with a layer of aloe vera gel). I wish I knew if it was making me stink - I was chatting to a couple the other day and the man moved away from me. I don't know if it was so I could chat more easily to his wife or if I reeked like oysters :)
