Sorry, Dog, I mean to put this as a direct reply to you.... you know, Dog, Martin Niemoller, hero of the resistance to Hitler, originally supported him. It took time for him to digest the red pill (enteric coating, maybe?) He was a WWI u-boat hero, so Hitler couldn't execute him like he did Bonhoeffer.
Think of the man who wrote Amazing Grace, John Newton. The lives he took on the slave ships must number in the many, many thousands. Yet, as he later said about that time, and might apply to you now, "Although my memory's fading, I remember two things very clearly: I am a great sinner and Christ is a great Savior."
