The reason I focus on this issue is because the #1 thing psychiatrists do is treat depression and anxiety, yet they rarely if ever check for the underlying causes of those conditions, which is often extremely easy to do...rather they just prescribe a medication and send you out the door. It's very frustrating.
Also a key point I've tried to emphasize here is that vagal damage and CNS damage create psychiatric symptoms, yet they are typically viewed as purely psychogenic.
Interesting, vagal response to "facial expression, eye contact and prosody allows one to determine whether or not the visceral state is safe to come close to."
I am touched that I can share something of value with you. You have provided so much to many.
I love Dr. Porges work. There is only one small thing that I do not agree with him on. He believes that the over stimulation of the vagus nerve, via cold therapy, such as a cold shower or cold plunge is not good. I have been a fan of the Wim Hoff method for a while.

None come to mind off the top of my head. This was a topic that took me a long time to understand properly.
Please, would you write about the vagal aspect? Or share prior articles you've written that I may have missed on it?

There is a famous doctor who spoke and wrote in depth about the vagus nerve. When I remember who that is, I will share.
Stephen Porges, PhD on polyvagal theory: https://www.stephenporges.com/articles
Here is a YouTube presentation by Dr. Porges: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRTkkYjQ_HU

This is really interesting; thank you for sharing.

There are a lot of ways to strengthen the vagal nerve, but for some reason most of them are not known by most of the people who talk about the topic.
I remembered and posted two links below.
