Correct. I wish more people knew about this since it would be so easy to test for.

Could you describe the test(s)? My SIL has low folate and lost several pregnancies. She was found to have a MTHFR mutation.

I read through the high-level explanation. It sounds very similar to the work of Dr. Daniel Amen. Have you ever seen him on PBS?

My SIL also has chronic, debilitating pain. She's on an ever-evolving cocktail of drugs, including Ambien. My brother had a major surgery a few years back, and she decided to go off the Ambien cold turkey, so she could he more focussed. I was there to help them. It wasn't pretty. She was out of control. Her pain doctor told her to never do that again.

On the Walsh Research Institute there are a list of doctors who've been trained in this methodology.

I'm curious to know what tests can be performed to determine who is at higher risk of negative outcome from psych drugs. It's sounds like the doctor is talking about a MTHFR mutation, but I can't be sure.

Mutations in these genes is associated with autoimmune disease and thyroid disease, which are all over my extended family. It would be good to know who is at risk of dangerous complications. Personally,I would never take a psychiatric drug. I don't need them, and I think they're poison.
