I lived in Hawaii for 50 years (1958-2008), approximately 47 years on the Island of Kauai. I would posit that not only has Hawaii been a "preferred site for ecological experimentation", it has been a preferred site for both social and political experimentation also!
In the 1960's the local communities fought against the introduction of SEICUS ("Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States" or more accurately described as - "Sex Education for Social Change") in the public schools (and lost). Again, in the 1970's we fought against the introduction of "SITUATION ETHICS" or "consensus decision-making" (i.e. the majority decides what is true) in the Public Schools (and we lost again), which prompted my wife & I to yank our 7 children out of the public school & home-school them (from 1973-1998).
Check the history of Hawaii from the overthrow of the corrupt Hawaiian Kingdom (by corrupt Corporate Oligarchs) to the present day. Hawaii is the Canary in the U.S. Political & Social Coal Mine (preceding California), i.e. the "POLITICAL PATTERN" for the dissolution of democratic governance - where Corporations, Unions, the Media, & Government are all in bed with each other.
The Hawaii State Supreme Court is famous for negating & overthrowing the democratic will of the people whenever the people have voted for or approved referendums that run contrary to the will of the Elite Overlords.
For all practical purposes, today Hawaii is much more like a Feudal State than a self-governing one (i.e. an extremely small elite ruling class, a very small middle class, & a large landless poverty ridden underclass).. Sound familiar?
Having lived on this earth for nearly 84 years, I have observed that "THE WAY OF THE WORLD" always entails FEAR; INTIMIDATION, COERCION; & FORCE ! This has been "the way of the world" since the beginning of civilization. Nothing has changed, except that those who would rule over others have more tools at their disposal to implement control over others than ever before.
I have also learned that those who seek power and authority over others are the least suited to exercise power and authority. While those who genuinely seek to serve others for the benefit of others are the most suitable for positions of power and authority.
Never trust an institution (government, agency, church, charity, medical, university, school, etc., etc.) that engages in PERSECUTION! I don't care how much "truth" they may profess to possess or how much "good" they may claim to do, if they engage in PERSECUTION, at their core they are pernicious and EVIL!
Salt Lake City School District never explained, to me anyhow, why they required that perverse situational ethics homeroom program. I guess it was so we'd assent to throwing people out of lifeboats to the sharks, and forcing them to take kill jabs.
