My approach was nicely summarized in a 2011 article in BodySense magazine, now found in the Internet Archive: https://tinyurl.com/bdcu9uup
What I term "massage mind" is the relaxed state that experienced meditators immediately recognize. It seems that our ceaseless conversation between body and mind creates blockages in both. Carefully structured massage can provide a physical mantra to quiet the conversation. The client more passively allows "massage mind" to happen as opposed to actively controlling the mind in traditional meditation.
Very interesting! Is there any particular massage you recommend?
